Brooklyn 149th Memorial Day Parade, 2016, Bay Ridge

This year’s parade was scaled back quite a bit, but it’s always a good to see our military as well as pay respects to those who gave all.

This year’s parade Grand Marshal was Hon. Jerome D. Cohen, a retired New York State Supreme Court justice and a World War II veteran.

Here are some of the pics from today’s parade. All pics can be seen here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10156898670845332.1073741854.353162125331&type=3. If you’d like full-size copies of any pics, just ask and we’d be happy to share. 🙂

And for a little piece of history where these photos were taken: the movies Saturday Night Fever (1977) and A Walk Among The Tombstones (2014) were filmed directly in areas shown in photos, as well as surrounding areas. The movie home area of “Tony Manero” is just a few feet away on 79th St (between Ridge Ave. and 3rd Ave.). The infamous “don’t touch my hair” scene’s home has been remodeled into a traditional Japanese style home WHYYYYYYY???!!! The home’s original design had so much historical value because of the iconic movie. However, adjacent homes next to and across from “Tony Manero”‘s movie home are exactly the same as they were in the original 1977 movie.
