Army Sgt. Terrance Balkisoon was killed in Brooklyn, NY while on leave from Iraq.

From Fox 5 NY (1/12/05) – A 24 year-old man is in police custody, charged with the murder of an Army sergeant who was shot to death outside a Brooklyn nightclub. Police said Joseph Carrington is charged with second degree murder, attempted murder and assault in the death of 25 year-old Terrance Balkisoon. The shooting took place outside Ambiance, in the Canarsie section after an exchange of words between a group of men and women. Carrington was said to have driven up and chased Balkisoon, shooting him to death and seriously wounding his brother, Lawrence. Balkisoon was home on leave from Iraq and was scheduled to go to South Asia to help Tsunami victims.
